First you want to either make extra gravy when you make the dinner or I use better than bullion!!! This is what they call a base and you can buy them in different flavors but that is the best brand that I have found!!! Its just beef base with a high sodium content and you make a beef broth with it that you thicken to get gravy!!!

Step One : Make the gravy

I usually will start the amount of water on the stove and add what ever I have for gravy or drippings from the roast into the water!!! Takes about a teaspoon of base per 8 oz of water roughly depending on taste to you!!! So start enough gravy to heat the roast and use for the sandwich!!! If your making one sandwich then 8 oz is enough if you have enough roast to make a couple sandwiches then you want to make some extra gravy to make more sandwiches!!! So start the water heating!!!

While the water is getting hot you want to make a corn starch and water mixture about 1/4 cup of water to about 2 teaspoons of cornstarch!!! Shake it or mix well!!! You will aslo need the Beef Base to add to the hot water when it comes to a boil!!! Next you want to add your base to taste about 1 teaspoon per 8 oz or so of water!!! If it is too strong then just add water to taste!!!

Now when you have added the beef base to the water you mix well!! Make sure it is all dissolved and then you want to add the cornstarch and water slowly till you get the desired thickness!! Add this slow as you will get it way too thick if you put in too much!!!

Step 2: Ready The Rolls

The rolls I usually will turn the broiler on and bake the rolls under the broiler!!! I butter both sides of the roll and brown them and crisp them up just a bit!!! This will allow them to stand up to the liquid gravy!!! You even want to slice a thin layer of the crust off on both sides of the roll and toast both sides!!! Have fun with the rolls!! Add garlic and cheese and make a really creative roll!!!

Slice The Roast Thin

Slice the pot roast or roast beef!!! I slice it really thin like shaved roast beef and then put it in the gravy!!! You want to allow the beef to soak in that awesome beefy goodness and get hot. Then when its hot lay it across the sandwich and ladle gravy over the top!!! serve hot with mashed potatoes and its amazing!!! This open faced roast beef sandwich will top the charts of the comfort food list!!! Absolutely splendid on a cold winter complete paired with an amazing red wine from Direct Cellars!!!

This was actually a great left over rosemary lemon pepper pork roast that I have now used the next day to create a wonderful dish the next day!!! A completely different recipe, and wonderful paired with the Castelo Do Rei Red Blend From Portugal!!! Accents this amazing sandwich with a bold red flavor with hints of pepper and black plum!!! Amazing pairing for a solid flavor with a defined dish!!! Just like the deep flavor of the rosemary pairs so well with this bold red wine from Direct Cellars
